Can't find a thread about rebuilding leafsprings

I came across a thread a few weeks ago about rebuilding a set of leafsprings, and now I can't find it. I was looking for info on 52" swaps. In the thread, he took the pack apart and painted it. When he put it back together, he put a layer of a plastic between the leaf's. It was more than just the factory pieces on the ends. It was a sheet of thin material, that he cut into strips and put them between the leaf's. It was either here, or on ColoradoK5, or on Pirate4x4. Sound familiar?

Hmmm…. Don’t recall that one but I can’t stand the immature truck hacks on Pirate4x4 or the must pay to play on CK5 so I seldom frequent those sites. I’ve reworked many spring packs over the years and you’re right, adding thin layers of vinyl or thin plastic material helps with spring flex as they can slide easier. Helps reduce squeaking too. I have even used pieces cut out of an antifreeze jug before. Another trick I have heard of by an old GMC Truck engineer that I work with is to cut small pieces from an actual silver spoon, fork, etc and wedge them between the springs. He claims it acts as a lube for life and cures spring squeaks. Never tried that truck though. Heck, true silver utensils are getting hard to find!

Here is a thread where I swapped in a set of 56” in the rear of a SWB but didn’t add any plastic in the spring packs this go around.
