straight axle conversion for 91 K1500

has anyone ever done this? or ame across a website so i can see how its done? also, does anyone make a kit to do this? TIA

there kit allows you to use a dana 44 or 60. and the system is bolt on. Best of luck, I see a couple of trucks around here with the conversion on them.

does anyone other than ORU offer one? i'd like to do some research and buy the most complete kit. also, has anyone replaced the 700R4/241 with a TH400/205? i know the 241 is driver's side drop, and the 205 is passenger. looking at the trans crossmember, i shouldnt have a problem just moving it back, but i just wanted to verify.

You will need a Furd front 44 or 60 if you plan on using your factory trans t-case. I have seen this done many times and with good results. I would say the ORU kit is a good one just overpriced IMO. Look on Fullsizechevy.com for some more insight.

1FaastC10, the NP241C was used with the 1989-1991 Blazers and probably 1/2 ton Suburbans (can't verify the 'burb) with a passenger side drop, so all solid front axles GM used will fit. Noteworthy is also the fact that 1989-1991 Blazers (atleast my 1991 model built late 1990) used electronic speedometers(!). To me it would seem more reasonable to buy a 1991 Blazer for the transter case, electronic speedometer and other misc. things you might want to use in other 73-87 projects than to put in a ford front axle.
