Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
Looking good! Any issues with the Boss rims fitting? I remember seeing some issues a while back on the fronts and the bore if I remember correctly.

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
Don't worry when it gets out of the body shop pics will be posted ASAP!! Sure it will be a little while before everything is done as for the drop im not a 100% but i think its a 4/6 has Bell Spindles on the front and drop spring in the back but they were installed before i purchased the truck, the wheels picked it up about 1-2 inches though.
Did not have to do anything to the rear drums to fit slid right on, had to trim off prob 3/4s of an inch in into the rotor and about an 1/8 of an inch or so shaved off i just took the rotors to work along with the wheel and would cut some then try to fit it on the wheel took maybe 20 minutes, not sure what type of lathe you have but i had to flip the arm over that are used for turning drums and flipped the bits worked perfect, if anyone in the area needs this done i'd be happy to help out. the rotors were also on the truck when i bought so i don't know much about them... |

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
I'm running an almost Identical set up. I don't know what kind of bed is going on this fine truck, but mine is a 1/2 ton Fleet with an ECE 4/6 drop, shock re-location kit and adjustable panhard bar.
My wheels are 8.5/20 running Nexen 245/40's up front and 275/45 out back. I don't know the backspacing on the rear, but 82.8 mm (about 3.25") seems a little less than mine. Maybe not. I don't even know if the 20 x 10's come with varying backspaces. A couple of items: The removal of material from the front hubs can be done in 5 minutes with a hand-held grinder. If I can do it, it can be done by a moron. With my set up, I really needed to space the rear wheels out an inch. I accomplished that with some nice 1" (5 x 5) billit spacers. The picture below is BEFORE I put the spacer on. A two-minute install that makes the front and rear wheels appear to be on the same axis. Remember, the front stock "tracking" is about 2" wider, in all. But what the $60 fix (price of the spacers) *really* did was give me more than the "spacerless" 3/8" clearance had afforded between the inner of the rear tire and the inside of the inboard side of the wheel tub. An adjustable panhard bar make it "easy" to line up. Now, with the 275's in the rear, I have 1 3/8" inch clearance on each side. I didn't want to hijack. Just wanted to make sure that someone with my set up is prepped for the possibility of the clearance issue. I probably could have run them without the spacers. But 295's would have been out of the question with the 20's and MY back spacing and drop. If you don't want to run sacers, I'd find out what options you have for backspacing on the 20's.

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
Follow up.
Here is the set-up WITH the spacer. You can't really tell from this angle, but there's plenty of clearance with the fender well, even at full compression. With 275/45's, anyway.

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
mine will also be a fleet bed, i guess i will cross that road when it comes the reason i went with a 295 instead of a 275 was the price, i could get the 295 for like a dollar more and i had heard a 275 gave it a balloon look on a 10 inch wheel, while the 295s were rated for a 9.5-11 inch wheel. difference in width was 3/4s of an inch over the 275s.

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
Great looking wheels, the minor modifications needed are worth it. Im running 18's and had no problem with the rear spacing. Is running a spacer only necessary with the 20's?

But, if I remember reading correctly, your rears are wider than 10", right? It's all about the backspace (and, of course, wheel width and tire size). And, as I said, I don't know what backspace options Boss 338's have on any of their wheels. The best info on the 20's, until I go to the shop to measure, come from 0_71chevy's box showing 82.8mm. Your wheels (and your whole truck) are a beauty to behold. Those 18's are great looking. Here's another shot of mine without the 1" spacer in the rear.

Re: New wheels and rubber!! Boss 338
boss 20x10's are 6.225" BS. With a 295 wide tire a spacer will most likely be required to avoid rubbing on inner portion of wheel tub and and to make it look good a spacer should be used. 1 - 1.25" spacer should do the trick, as I believe was stated earlier. The 18's come either 9.5" or 8" wide, but the BS on the 9.5's is better than the 20x10's at 5.031. No spacers needed. Lip on the 18's is almost 3/4" deeper than the 20x10's.
lolife beat me to it!
