making my inside panels

Worked on my 70 2wd, Made the the sides out of 1/4" cabinet facing 4x8 sheet is $28.00 . Also covered the floor with it, Got the vinyl from a local fabric shop..$ 40.00 for 2 yards which was plenty/ Made the top rail out of 1 x3 pine routered the edges and stapled the fabric to the back . used furniture leg dowels to attach with wing nuts underneath for quick removal. Installed new carpet from stockinteriors .com $ 275.00 for the 4 piece kit. Deliverd in about 4 days and fits good.

Very nice! I have a few questions since i bought some material a while back to do this as well:

1. Is there a reason you didn't go all the way back to the the tailgate with the panels?

2. Are they only held in with the chrome strip?

3. Can you explain the wood dowl/wing nut thing a little more? Are they wood wing nuts? I've never heard of this but sounds like a perfect option!

1. There is too much transition there to go all the way back to the tailgate. Eventually i will paint that area
2. Chrome strip and pressure against the carpet. I was going to put in some screws but right now it works for me.
3. You can get these at home depot or a hardware store it's wood thread on one end and machine (1/4- 20) on the other
they are about 2-3 inchs long

Looks great ...i do have one question... A stipid one but gotta know...if I am correct, you laid the floor carpet onto the 1/4 cabniet wood.. How come you just didnt lay deadner pad then the carpet? Im going to cross this bridge someday and thought i would ask

The pad still follows the bed's corragated contours and I wanted it to lay nice and flat.

Looks great! I like the idea of the flat floor. Question - where did you get the chrome strip? Polished is #0000 steel wool?

The chrome strips are factory CST pieces . Bought on here from board member. Looking for another set for my buddy's K5

very clean i like it. im about to build some panels myself, probably out of fiberglass with some shape to it, actually kinda surprised i havent seen it more often.

im thinking about doing something like in this picture with a lot less curvature though. maybe something that is more outward at the bottom of the panel and has just one 6 inch speaker on each side of the wheel well where it curves out and to an angle like the panel in the picture just not nearly as much. to get the shape all you do is build a frame out of wood and staple a stretchy fabric over it then glass it, something i would enjoy doing.
