very cool! i've been looking for something for the gmc for a while. i've actually been looking at a billet insert for a new dodge ram. i think i can trim it to fit.

As far as inserts go, it's not bad. Any pics of the whole front end? The material used reminds me of some commonly available "grating" I've seen in the past. Just can't remember where or what it's intended use was.

where did you get the grating. It looks like stainless steel. Didyou just puck it up at a local home improvement place?

It's aluminum. I got a piece of scrap from work and cut it to fit. I had to remove all the hood latch assy. to install. Being aluminum it was easy to cut.

That is flattened expanded metal, available at most metal and steel companies, and some home centers and hardware stores.
