Broke my bellhousing today!
Well I dropped my 350 turbo trans off a set of sawhorses today and managed to break one of the bolt holes off the housing. The tranny was just rebuilt and I'm wondering if you guys think with one bolt hole missing I am risking anything? I also wondered what metal the 350 was made out of is it cast iron? I tried to Mig weld the bolt hole back on but the housing metal isnt melting right, doesnt seem to mealt at all wire just build up on top of it then becomes brittle. Any suggestions other than buy a new tranny lol?

Take it to to a welding shop. They will need to bolt it to a plate or a old block to make sure its straight, but they can be welded.

It should be cast aluminum. You will have to take it to someone that can weld aluminum... LockDoc
