Meet Project Red, White, and Blue

Well, after a LONG wait, i finally got it. My dream truck. 3/17/11 I found out tonight, the truck is a FAKE. The SPID and vin are from a LWB truck. I'm very disappointed, but i'm going to keep going on it.

Project Red, White and Blue. The RED because i'll be in the red on this project, and the white and blue should be obvious.

1972 C10 shortbed Deluxe, 402/400. Truck has white interior, Leaf rear, we think its a posi but the SPID is ripped so i cant' see it. Special paint. The two-tone is factory. A/C. Everything is there.
Needs a ton of work, Cab, the bed is pretty good, the front fenders are usable, the doors are JUNK. The hook is JUNK. Frame looks really good.
Have all but 1 piece of trim.

Was run last summer motor only, has been sitting since 2002. The 2nd to last owner had it half taken apart to restore, then ran out of money and it sat, and sat, and sat. Untill i saved it today. The guy who owned it now, drove under it with the fork truck, picked it right up and set it on my trailer. I thought for sure i was going to have to crank it up on. Thank heaven. And it didn't do any damage i can see. He was gentle, he has 10 of these trucks.

I paid WAY to much, but i don't care. I dont' have a title, in maine you dont' need one, and i don't care. lol. Little brat aren't I.

On the way home, the bed slide half way off, not to self, always check to make sure everything is bolted down. lol. 300 mile round trip, 120 in fuel, worth every penny.

Progress will be slow. I'm going to fiberglass the crap out of the holes in the cab, put on some ok doors, and a ok hood. put it mainly back together and run it for awhile, in maine as an antique you don't need an inspection. then i'll start saving for a west coast cab, and all the new parts i need. I will post more pics as i go.

2 trucks in 1 weekend, i'm smilin ear to ear.

Thanks for looking.

I got her up on the lift last night before dinner. The bed i found 3 spots.

The tailgate other than some rust on the bottom is very nice and straight.

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

more cab

Its interesting, the roof line on the inside is GONE! right full of pine needles, Mice? The outside shows no sign of holes or damage. I'm stumped.

Rear cab light, and white interior YUCK. I don't know what color the seat was because i don't have it.

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

The engine bay.

402 decal, alum intake with holly carb, PS tank on the fender, 4 core rad.

The engine was taken out and had some work done, dont know what. It was completely repainted and put back it. So im not sure if its a rebuild or not. ODO shows 75k I can't believe it would be 175k lol.

Chrome bumpers. Was gonna name the truck coop, but decided against it. My GF says i'm nuts.
Project Red, white and blue. Truck is blue and white, and i'll be in the red on this one!

The (8 396) badges are not right of coarse.

And i have never seen the "Deluxe" tag.

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

Dumb question, but for the High Hump did they just cut out a regular cab floor and bolt the high hump down? I tried to look at my 67 cab, but its buried in ice.
Thanks

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

Nice truck! On the high hump they had a flange around it where it bolted to from the factory. Should also have a heat shield on the passenger side lower cab above the manifold.

Oh, and i love the invisible metal...I've seen that before but it always amazes me

You're smart to look for a good cab but even better yet is the plan to enjoy it for a bit before you tear it down.

Which piece of trim are you missing?

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

It does have the pass side heat shield.

I'd like to patch it up and run it for abit, but the cab is so bad im not sure I dare. I'm stuck at this point. Do I buy a out west cab, pay 1-1500 for it and shipping? Or spend the money and buy a floor, cab corners, rockers, change out the inner roof panel, it's a tough decision. The bed is not bolted down, I found this out the hard way coming around a corner, thank heaven I was watching my mirrors on the way home and got it strapped down. I think I'm going to pull the bed, get that patched up and reinstall the wiring and such.
I'm missing the pass side cab corner trim piece.
The other one is the drivers upper bed, it's damaged, but I think I can fix it for now.

Re: Meet Miss Miranda

Please do change the name if you would. I'd appreciate that very much.

Just the pass side lower corner trim, its like a 3 inch piece. I'll post up some pics later of what is missing. the clips are there, do they just glue to the trim or how is it attached? i haven't looked that far yet.

I want to remove the bed. What do you guys hook the straps to when useing the engine hoist? I'm not sure the stack pockets will work, no holes in them.
