63 Spud's very unorganized build thread
I've had this truck in pieces for a couple years. I bought it off Craigslist completely dismantled, without an engine or transmission. It has slowly become 1 complete truck, minus a few things I still need like a rear bumper. So now that its all bolted together and running, its time to start dealing with things like rust, bodywork, paint etc... I thought I'd start this with what I'm doing today, removing the driver side rocker. I'll fill in the blanks as I get time and organize the photos I already have. |

It is great that you finally started a build thread.
I enjoyed checking out your truck at the February breakfast meet and greet. Good to see you are still making progress.

Re: 63 Spud's very unorganized build thread
That is what is on the agenda for us this weekend. I enjoyed looking over your truck at the meet and greet as well! Looks like it'll be even better looking next time.
That is quite a feat to assemble it from a pile of parts! I was looking at our stack of parts, hoping I would be able to remember what goes where, and we took it apart, so without having that, I would be lost. Good Job!! Are you looking for a stock rear bumper, or just something that could be modified to fit? I have the rear bumper on our donor truck that isn't planned for anything if you are interested. You won't have any trouble putting your truck back together. Its so easy, a caveman could do it. I'm thinking a stock painted bumper for a step side would look good. I just gotta keep an eye out for one. Thanks for the offer though.

Re: 63 Spud's very unorganized build thread
I was thinking of trying this method.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=271066 I helped a guy remove the floor pan and fire wall in a 65 mustang, and we were drilling out all of the spot welds, then prying them apart. What a PITA!! I also saw one person on here mention that you could just grind them down until they were thin enough to separate, but I would be worried about generating too much heat and warping something that I need to keep. |

Got the passenger side rocker off today in record time. After assessing the damage I've decided its nothing $300 worth of patch panels can't cure.

Still need to order patch panels. I'm sure it will be an ordeal. Working on rusty old trucks is fun!
