Stainless steel bed strips - magnetic vs non-magnetic

I purchased the angle-strips only (no, I'm not sure why I did that ) awhile ago and now I'm looking to order the center strips. I can't remember who I ordered them from.

The angle-strips I have won't take a magnet (good stuff). I've been looking and calling around to the various suppliers and the ones I've seen are all magnetic stainless. Does anyone know who makes non-magnetic stainless strips???

anyone who sells them out of 304 304L or 316 or any 300 series.
Don't confuse the non magnetic properties as the good stuff 304 and 316 are the least expensive grades of stainless. any 300 series stainless can develop magnetism from working with it such as bending and polishing. Most auto trim was 403 grade which is magnetic. I would prefer to have them made out of the 403. thats what we sell as its superior

Re: Stainless steel bed strips - magnetic vs non-magnetic

Well - I've always had good luck with 304 and 316 in automotive environments. In salt chambers at work I've always seen martensitic (400 series) go to pot sooner:

"When there is no nickel the stainless grade family is the "400 series". 400 series are not as corrosion resistant as the 300 series and are magnetic, where the 300 series are non-magnetic."

At any rate, I'd at least like to keep them all the same. My bad for not buying all of them at once...

Not to start anything but 400 series stainless will rust, 300 series will tarnish but not rust.
