newish Stepside rear step bumper (finally)
After looking at 100's of pics and not wanting a rear sport bumper, I fixed the one I had. The truck was a fleetside that I changed to a stepside. The extra wide bumper drove me nuts, but new ones were priced way to high. I looked at S10 and Ranger styles and I just didnt like the factory ones. Now I think I can manage with how it turned out. The bumper was cut on each end just past the curve and 5.5" was removed from each side. Not too bad for a rusty old bumper.

Re: newish Stepside rear step bumper (finally)
Good job. I am in the same situation. My '71 lwb was originally a fleetside and now it has a stepside bed on it with the original step bumper. I want to keep the bumper since it is a work truck and cutting the bumper down will make it look better.
Thank you for sharing.

Good job! I think it turned out great and its functional. Sure beats shelling out the cash for a new bumper!

Thanks for the positive words. I will admit, It's not the prettiest, but its period correct and dang sure functional. I'll see if I can dig up a 'before' pic. It was worse.

Not bad! I did about the same thing on a van some years back but had to go out instead of in. Even got a place to put a 12' whip! You'll like it a lot!

Some people just need to whine about something.
Maybe I should set him up with my exwife! This is not the first time I've see that complaint from him. IF EVERYONE else seems to be a problem, maybe the problem IS YOU!! MAYBE you can read this. Jparks, thank you.

Is there any way I can give you bonus points on this thing? I agree....that whole "smart alec remark about everything" stuff is tiring.

Re: newish Stepside rear step bumper (finally)
Hey dutchmanz , I think your bumper looks great . Is that the same bed you got from me ? If it is , you did a hell of a job with that too ! Great combo ! It"s a shame good people like yourself along with the other 98.999% of the board members on here can"t post something that they are proud of or at the very least ( HAPPY WITH ) & trying to share some of the knowledge they have learned thru trial & error just so some of us might have the chance to actually learn something w/o some SOB with a sh***y attitude taking up a perfectly good space !!! By the way , did I tell you your bumper looks great ?
