The cam specs are .520 intake .540 exhaust lift. Durations @.050 is 236 intake 242 exhaust. cut on a 110 lobe center and it is a hydraulic roller. Once I get back on my feet from my accident I plan to swap out to 1.6 rockers which will put it just under .580 lift.

Re: 64 rat rod

Here are a few more pics of the truck. Hadn't had a chance to do much to it. Got exhaust on it and some decent tires to just drive around on. I will post a video of it with exhaust in a bit.

Here is a video my buddy made of me leaving the tire shop. Also uploaded a pic of my new DD the day I picked her up form the dealer. Still need to remove that nasty cover on the gas tank lid!

Re: 64 rat rod

Been awhile sence I posted any updates. Soooo here goes. Coverted my rear to 5 lug with mosser hardened axles and a motive mini spool, restored some 5 lug 80's rallies for it, installed a firmer shift kit and shift reprogramer in the tranny and been having fun with me and the boy hot rodding around town. Was running good till it ran lean at 5800rpm.under hard throttle. # 1 and 5 pistons gave it up. Will post some pics when I get home.

Sorry to see your pan ventilated like that, that was good sounding engine. Have you come up with a plan of what you're going to do for an engine?

So I pulled it back under the car port and tossed my charger on trickle charge and went to work. Came home this morning itching to test her out but was thought full enough of my neighbors to not fire it up till after 10am. She started fine seemed to have damn nice throttle response so down the road I went. Every thing seemed fine so once I got to a strip of road with no house I stabbed the throttle. All hell broke loose till 5k rpm and she started popping back.... So i slow down... cruise to the next stop sign and turn around. This time I just cruise back towards the house like I would normally cruise and damn thing starts stumbling at 2k rpm. So I get home double check initial timing... about 16 degrees... then pull the throttle back and wow... it jumps so much I cant get an accurate reading. Seems my cheap HEI distributor my brother gave me is jumping advance even at low rpm. Sooo moral of the story... dont waste time or money with cheap ebay distributors!!
I took my motor out my truck for the same thing I knew I should have changed the distributer 1st. I was blaming it on the camshaft. I'm doing a 383 and was going to change the distributer too dam...dam...dam... In my florida from good times voice

Yeah, I am currently building a RHS headed sbc. I was doing a 6"rod 383 but may have wonder into a 421 short block if I can come up with the cash before it sells. Anyone want to buy a hard used, barely working Kidney? Anyway, I have the heads already RHS 220's. If I do the 383 it's a scat crank and rods with Probe srs flat tops... roughly 10.3 to 1 with a solid roller thats .591 intake .597 exhaust 254*intake 260*exhaust @ .050 on a 110 lsa. If I do the 421 it will be everything the same except more CID. 383 should be an honest 475hp/torque and the 421 would do a little over 500. I am not sure the little extra power is worth the extra $$$$ at this point. Either way the Truck weighs around 3300 with me in it, so she should scoot.

Re: 64 rat rod

I ended up going with the 383. Picked my short block up from the machine shop last week and will be finishing the assembly in the morning. I also scored a set of 316\60-15 MT drag radials that were used one night from a buddy. Hope to have the truck back together in a few weeks.

Re: 64 rat rod

Been along time coming but I got the new motor in and tuned for now. Made a lil clip last night while adding anti-freeze to it and the other toys. Cant see much but you can hear it decent. This is running with the same exhaust as the old motor.

Re: 64 rat rod

Been making decent progess today. Got the new springs and shocks installed in the back and got the drop spindles rotors and brakes on the front. Now I just need to install the new mastercylinder, prop. valve and run the brake lines. Here is a few quick pics during the work.

Re: 64 rat rod

If you can't tell from the pics it is quite rusty and beat up. I don't plan on messing with the body much and the paint is rattle can flat black. So ratrod fits it quite nice I think.

Re: 64 rat rod

Well you see I don't see calling it a ratrod as a negative thing. I love my truck. I think it's tough as sh*t. I love that it has character and dig the way it looks, other then the white hood. Honestly for being a true off the farm truck it is rather straight now that I swapped out beds. Has very little rust in the cab and no rust in the fenders. But the truck is meant to be a lil rough around the edges. A little abrasive. My 65 malibu on the other hand will be pretty and shiney. The truck is more of a nasty ole hotrod/ratrod, which ever you prefer. I dig the shiney trucks too, but it's just not what I in-visioned for this truck.
