New to board...65 Custom

Hello! My name is Ray. I am very happy to be here, and looking to contribute in any way. Was a hard core 67-72 guy since mt HS days, but in the past couple years have switched to 60-66. I currently am the proud owner of this 65 Custom SB BBW. I am second owner and the truck is sporting 61,000 origional miles. I must say, I am absolutely in love with it! I'm looking to gradually do some upgrades while trying to keep some origionality to the truck. We'll see.....

Re: New to board...65 Custom

The paint on your new truck is somewhat dull and it has the wrong wheels on it. You might want to sell me the truck and buy a nice, correct 67-72 as they are much more popular. Let me know if I can help.

Re: New to board...65 Custom

Welcome from Florida. Along with my 63, I have a 57 2 door post that i have owned since I was 15. I have given it to my son and we start on it this year to have it ready for his 16th birthday.

Ya I agree, probably not a good truck to start with. I'll take it off your hands, stay away from OEM4ME. He'll cut it up and put a hood scoop on it or someting. LOL

Just kiddin man, great lookin truck. Welcome.

O ya, loooove the 60 wagon.

Thanks everyone! This is an awesome board!

onequick- since that pic was taken, I've traded that 57 for a 55. Built a nice street car out of it

Re: New to board...65 Custom

Welcome Ray - LOVE your truck. So much so that I was in line to buy it, now I know who beat me to it... I was on the phone with Black Tie classics over and over wondering if they ever sold it. Guess I can leave them alone now.

Great truck, I looked it over with a fine tooth comb when I was shopping and know just how nice it is, congrats, I think you bought yourself a great little truck. And welcome to the forum, you'll find us all very friendly and everyone very helpful! Some really smart folks (i.e. not me) hangin out on here.

Re: New to board...65 Custom

WELCOME!!!
Love your truck!! It looks like you bleed Chevy blue, judging by all the awesome cars you have in your collection. A '55, a '57, and a '60 wagon. Too cool!

Post up more pictures, we love that stuff!!

Re: New to board...65 Custom

Welcome to the forum. That is a very nice looking truck. I see the accessory 4 way flasher and was also curious about the unit under the dash – 8 track, record player or A/C?

The wheels look like early American Racing “Standard” wheels, similar the ones used on the rear of the SoCal built 57 Chevy gasser.

http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/.../photo_03.html

I’ve never seen any in 6 lug, so who knows. There were a lot of start up wheel manufacturers in the 60’s that didn’t make it. They certainly are unusual and distinctive with the 4 slots. Looks like you have a nice collection.
