Made my own motor mounts and got everything mocked up. I will tie them together with a tube under the oil pan in place of the stock cross member. Sorry for the bad pics, there were taken with my cell.

Strong work on the engine mounts. Very nice. Also, I love the idea of an engine cage. Not only does it protect your 5.3L, but it also provides a spot for the coilovers.

Is it too early to air out that blazer?

Its just a little too early to air it out, but I will make up for lost time when its done ,

Next I will be working on a crossmember to tie in the two mounts together. Than I need to do something about the tranfer case cross member. It sits about 1" higher then stock and about 1.5" forward. The stock cross member won't work because my radius arm mounts are right there, so I will either modify the stock one or build my own. I won't know untill I try to use the stock one first. If I don't like it, I will build my own.
After all that crap, then I will need to build mounts for the core support. It was mounted to the leaf spring hangers, but obviousely those are gone. Its going to be a slow process, but at least its moving along again!!

Ok, not much of an update, but I finally took some better pics of the motor mounts with my camera instead of the cell.....
The header on the driver side will need to be modified to work. It hits the frame and the collector angle is not what I want. I have some tubing ordered. I will cut the tubes just above the top of the frame rail and then add "segments" to get the right angle I want. It will match the passenger side by the time I am done.
Also set the radiator in place to see where I need make my mounts.
The transfer case cross member now mounts to the top of the lower frame rails vs the bottom. I hacked it up a little, but nothing I cant fix later. It raised the transfer case about 1" (which is where it ended up), I had to re-bend the ends to get it where I wanted it.

Looking good. One question, with all the other tube work, why didn't you just make another tube one for the transfercase rather than cut and bend the stamped steel one?

The added gussets in the frame along with all the cage attachments will make the chassis very stiff. The motor mounts will be stiff too. Then you have this, which seems out of place.

Um.............. Good question!!

I figured I would try it first, if I dont like it, I can always build one anytime. At least for now, it gives me the location to get everything else in line and sets the location to work everything else around (exhaust, etc) I will have to make one that bolts to the vertical inside frame rails...... later

Here is the start of my attempt to modify my headers to fit my application. You may ask, "why not buy ones that fit", well, what fun is that?

I figured I already have these, I may as well take a stab at it, so I started cutting....... The third tube back will be rotated down a little. Thats it for now, I will post pics of my final product when done.

Well folks, believe it or not, I started kicking this old girl around the garage again this past weekend.

Got the modified header reworked for a nice fit, its ugly, but its done

Also started working on the mounts for the 26 gal fuel cell. Stay tuned.......
