Looks like it's had some water in it for a while, and if the reservoir is that rusty, the cylinder bore probably is too. I'd replace it for no more than they cost and save yourself a headache later.

I'd try puttin some CLR in it and lettin it sit for a few.

CLR or wood bleach powder/water. Soak it for awhile, should be good.

I'd get a rebuilt, they're about $15

this is your brakes,, either take it apart and clean it and add new seals after a light hone, or replace it.. being cheap here is stupid.. a good rebuild is 70 bucks.
cheap ones are 18-20.
a rebuild kit to do yours is 20-25..

Yours seems to have quite a bit of rust and it could be pitted internally. Back in the old days we used to rebuild them by honing, new seals, pistons, etc. These days, it's not worth the effort. If you're patient and do a good job it can be done but otherwise as some mentioned above buy one. You can get high dollar ones but I've used the Napa ones and other local parts places and they've held up pretty well.

Be aware that even new ones can be defective so be sure and do a careful job of bench bleeding following the instructions carefully. Before taking it on the road do some testing in the drive way then around the block and or an empty parking lot if possible.

if you like the truck stopping when you want it to stop a new master is cheap compared to brake failure when your life depends on it

I will be rebuilding mine, as it has bleaders on it..
it's easy to do..
