Hood Ornament

The PO had a hood ornament, but it has broken off. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to replace this with?

Re: Hood Ornament

Someone that is sure can jump in, but I was told that these trucks never came with hood ornaments. Was also told that early 70's Monte Carlo were often used.

Re: Hood Ornament

If you're going to have a hood ornament on a 67-72 Chevy or GMC, you might as well go all out. Here you go:

This is the same hood ornament sold on early 70 Monte Carlo's, my M-N-L has one she bought in 1971 and still drives to this day. I believe this truck has that same type of ornament.

I see that cat has listed that blue truck at a higher price than the last time it didn't sell for $49,000.

Re: Hood Ornament

It was in fact the first gen Monte Carlo ornament which was a very tasteful touch to add on these trucks.

Re: Hood Ornament

Thanks for the responses, at first I was going to try to fill it in and paint over it but now I think I will try to find a Monte Carlo ornament.
I saw the ones at J.C. Whitney but didn't like them.
Remember back in the 70's ornaments were the craze and then in the late 80's the gangstas would steal them to wear around their neck, especially the Mercedes Benz ones.

Re: Hood Ornament

Everybody knows hood ornaments were never offered from the factory for 67 to 72 trucks, but they were offered on both earlier and later trucks. Also everybody has a bit different taste sometimes. The rectangular ones from the later trucks with the Chevrolet script in the center are downright classy in my book. Plus, it would probably be cheaper (not to mention easier) to just find another hood ornament.

It's the way the light is hitting the hood, along with some pollen.

Here is another picture.
