Have a serious buyer for my motorhome, but, wants to know rear end gear ratio. Wondering if one with wisdom could help me with this?! Here is a link to the post from the 4 sale section:

Re: Rear end gears on my 1969 GMC Motorhome??
If memory serves, 5.13 is automatic with the DRW option, and also the only one avalible. a 4.56 or 4.10 would be an easy swap but that's as good as it gets without a rear end swap.

Re: Rear end gears on my 1969 GMC Motorhome??
Adam, not sure if they are all the same.. but both of my Chinook motorhomes (70 GMC and 72 Chev) had 4:10's and my 72 Weekender (72 chev) has 4:10's
One way to find out is to crawl under and get the code stamped into the top of the rear end pumpkin. |

I used to work on a lot of 1 ton trucks, mostly step vans & they almost all had 4.56 rear gears.

Re: Rear end gears on my 1969 GMC Motorhome??
Well it is a 14' motorhome with a 350/auto. Likely as not it has 5.14 gears. I'm not seeing anything on the SPID to indicate the 11K axle (H22 or H23) with 5.43/6.17 gears. Plus it has 16.5" tires.

Re: Rear end gears on my 1969 GMC Motorhome??
Will it be stamped on the passenger side, on top of the axle tube? Like other trucks..... Thanks to everyone for all the input...and more is welcomed

No it is not..
On a H052 it is stamped into the top of the "pumpkin' next to a "rib" towards the drivers side, it is hard to see you more than likely will need a wire brush and some brake kleen and a mirror |
