Re: i accomplish and steering column change

What did you have to do? I am 6'4" and my stock non-tilt steering wheel in my 1987 chevy truck just doesn't work. Looking to upgrade

Re: i accomplish and steering column change

I put a 91 tilt in for my non tilt 91 if that makes sense but for mine it was i think 5 small bolts on the inside firewall, plus the two holding it two the dash, all the plugins, two on the outside of the firewall, the actual steering shaft has a plastic pin in it and for mine i had to use the tilt steering steering shaft because the non tilt was different. Then again not sure how they changed throughout the years i also put i think an 88 suburban column in 85 silverado

As long as you get the same year column. Over the years there have been several changes to the harness and connectors. They moved the wipers from the dash to the column as well. It can be plug and play, but not always.

Re: i accomplish and steering column change

here is some pics of an 91 suburban column i also put an 88 in an 85 so i know those will work not sure how far the changes go back but there's two nuts holding it to dash *The ones pointing straight down not at an angle*, but first you must remove lower part of column, metal piece and air duct, next go to the 5 bolts on the inner firewall, two nuts on the outside firewall, shift linkage, 2 plastic inserts shaft. Drop column down and remove wiring which is 2 big plugins, a long skinny one, neutral safety switch, possibly a few more its been awhile but its really easy
