70 c10 door locks?
i replaced the lock cylinder in the driver door and am having trouble getting it to lock. i can lock it from the inside and when i close the door it unlocks. then when i try to use the key to lock it, it still will not lock. any ideas? the knob only seems to go down half the normal distance also when i push it down if this helps

Re: 70 c10 door locks?
I have the same trouble....i actually lift up on the door handle (lightly....remember that door handle is pot metal) while turning the key....also, I believe as a safety precaution the door unlocks when you lock it and close the door just in case you left your keys in there...thus the reason you have to lock with the key

Re: 70 c10 door locks?
Mine is doing the same thing but its something inside the lock itself that not allowing the key to turn without a lot of messing around. Sometimes takes a few minutes of wiggling to get the key to turn. I guess my lock is just worn out.

Re: 70 c10 door locks?
If the cylinder is the issue, try some grafite lub like LockEz. I had some bodywork done on my wife's car and neither lock would rotate, squirted some LockEz in there moved the key around, no problems since. Just watch the drip if you have nice paint.
