fuel sending unit
i have a 70 c10 that was originally an inline 6 truck. i have since switched out the 6 for a small block. the fuel sending unit needs to be replaced. question is, do i have to use an original unit for a 6 for accurate reading, or can i just get a unit for a v8 and install.

Re: fuel sending unit
My understanding is that the sending unit is the same, it is the fuel line coming out of it that is different. I think the the I6 is 5/16" where the V8 is 3/8".
I am sure those who know more will chime in.

Re: fuel sending unit
Fuel line size and the connection is the only differences. In 69 I know the V-8 307 2 barrel carb fuel sender unit came with the smaller line also as stock. Since then I replaced the carb with a 4 barrel, I have had no starving fuel issues for several years. Doubtful unless you are running dual carbs you would have a issue with fuel starvation in a stock setup.

Re: fuel sending unit
The only difference is the size of the tube. If you install one from a V-8 then either you will have to find 1/4" an adapter, or change the fuel line going through the floor of the truck. WES
