Has anyone ever seen this?
My bumper is definitely not stock but I've never seen a bumper setup quite like this one? Was this common practice? I'm not sure how well it would hold up if one of the locals rear ends me. Please disregard the rachet.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?
Not that I've seen. The tube that is welded to the bumper is about as long as my arm

Not that I know of. The tube attached to my bumper is about as long as my arm and the only thing holding it in place is 2 bolts total

I think it is so you can extend or retract the bumper for a camper. I have a 3/4 ton GMC that has a similar one.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?
Boy, everything would have to be aligned perfect to get that to slide, either that or there is a bunch of clearance between the bumper pipe and the frame sleeve.
I would agree also that if the only thing holding the sleeve to the pipe is the end of the bolt pushing against it that it would collapse in an accident. Still, a pretty novel idea though. |

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?
That concept used to be a common setup on trucks intended to carry a camper.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this?
Exactly what I was thinking. Funny no holes drilled for different setting though.
