Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
Hello Guys,
You guys know your stuff here and just wanted your opinion on buying a 1969 stepside. Here are the pictures of it. Guy said it runs great. It has 3 on the tree and has the whitewall tires. Has a 250 v6 and some rust spots. Says all in all in good shape. He daily drives it. Last edited by Jgut12; 04-20-2011 at 05:15 PM. |

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
I would say it depends on the price and current supply of 67-72 trucks in your area.
If that truck ran good it would be worth 2500-3k to me if the rust wasn't that bad. With that said I personally wouldn't buy a I6 truck (unless thats your thing) becuse I would want to swap motor and trannys anyways and that would cost you a couple grand atleast.

Cole good points. The price they are asking is 2500. I think I would really want a 8 anyway in there. Its hard to find a decent truck in my area.

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
A couple grand isn't so bad (for a powertrain swap)since the bodywork to get a truck that nice would run that also and we all know paint jail tends to be a longer sentence. That said, it really depends on what you want to do with it.I have a 250 and love it.It's just enough different to not look the same as everyones 350.I agree that the pics look like it worth around $2000-3000,but rust can hide on these trucks and it's buyer beware.

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
the paint throws me off, some shiny some faded/primer? What's hidden under the new paint. If you want a hotrod v8 truck this isn't it. If you want a good straight shortbed driver this might be it. If your looking for good bones to build your dream truck this might be it.

His price is not bad for a running, driving truck. Key is the amount of rust. A lot can be hiding under that paint, check it out real good.

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
thanks all for the feedback. I guess my goal for the truck right now is to be a weekend hauler/ carrier for around the yard things and misc. It wont be for a streetrod or anything. I am into that with my other car (mazdaspeed 6).
I am going to throw him an offer of 1500 and work from there. Again, this would just be a little project of mind to fix up and make look nice. As long as there is not holes everywhere, and it can be fixed with alil spot welding it should be an ok project for me. |

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
I'd like to buy a little Stepside 6-banger like that for a couple grand just to tool around in. Gotta leave 6cyl/3spds in some of them. I'd have to get rid of those goofy tires that belong on '50s or earlier car, though.

Those 250 I6 are tough motors. I 2 like the v8 swap, but for a little runner you can't beat them.

Re: Thoughts on This 1969 Chevy
i'd b worried mostly about roof rust as here in florida it is alot worse than i have seen in other parts of the country// if it needs a cab replacment i'd think 1000-1200 is a more realistic price on a bondo monster no frills truck
