th350 space for service
Hello I have my 2 piece driveshaft out as it needed a new center carrier bearing , so I replaced the u joints..
and I'm going to replace the tailshaft seal my question is does anyone know if there is enough room to slide the th350 back while bolted to the crossmember but crossmember unbolted from frame and drop the converter to change out the front seal .. thanks.. |

Re: th350 space for service
that's how i do it. i position my floor jack under the trans pan parallel to the truck, and use a hammer to "tap" on the crossmember. it will slowly walk away from the engine. baby steps though

Re: th350 space for service
i never thought of doing this... there's room, but in reality, I see it as more of a pain than just dropping the trans, and I would be scared of it falling for one reason or another.

I would drop the cross member and pull the trans if you are installing a front seal. And if the trans is old I also at that time install a new pump seal.
