Re: dash pad
First of all, WELCOME, to the forum!
I am not sure of the best place to buy a dash pad, but you might check this thread out. It could be a good option depending on the condition of your current pad, if you have one. I do not have one yet but plan on having STITCH sew me one up soon. The best option, I think, is based on personal preference and what your long term goals are. Check out the search function for "dash pad". There is a lot of information on here. Cheers!

Re: dash pad
The best pads if you like the original look still are the nos GM units ...usually on ebay ,hemmings or sometimes craigslist/kijiji
Be prepared to pay 300.00 to 500.00 paint to match(most of the service ones are blue)and your truck will look original and correct |

Re: dash pad
If you are going for the original and correct pads, remember that there are two different pads for the 73-80 trucks and all 81-87's used the same pad. They are hard to come by and it does seem that GM started making only one color for service replacement parts after the regular production runs. I have a 73-77 NOS pad and a 78-80 NOS pad. Both are light blue . Only color I have seen them in. All of my NOS door panels are dark blue for the 77-80 Cheyenne and Silverado. All of the replacement 81-87 parts I have seen are lt grey.

Re: dash pad
For anyone looking to afford one, here is a new oem dash in the box I found on CL:
http://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/2290785789.html Meanwhile my dash project is a continued project pending on "waiting on a part" issue, just not ready to spend $400 on a new oem dash. I have found another oem dash, as nice as new and one for less than this CL one, but since it may be "sold" soon, I reserve my right to remain silent on its location. Mark
