panels
Im going to make my own rear side panels this week has anyone done them, Im thinking 1/2 inch plywood wraped in vinal..... any ideas

I am thinking about doing the same thing i was thinking high density particle board and matching carpet. Also wanted to build in speaker boxes only issue i see is may be a pain in the butt with double wall top.

thats why i was kind of thinking plywood so the speakers can mount up... but your right particle board would be easier to work with.

MDF would be much less likely to warp than plywood. I know Fuelcellguy was kicking around selling aluminum side panels at one point.

1/2 inch seems way to think IMO. I would go with 1/4" material of some sort. If you want to install speakers glue a piece of 1/4" or even 1/2" to the back of your panel in that area and that will give you plenty of material to mount your speakers too.

1/4" plywood works best IMO. It fits pretty well against the screw piece in the back, and will tuck behind the "B" pillar or whatever you want to call it. Easy to work with, pretty light, and will hold shape over time IME. I would seal it with polyurethane before you cover it though.

i used 3/4" plywood and routered the top so it tucks in on the top rail.its mounted using lag bolts with wing nuts on the back side so no visible mounting screws.
