New rag joint needed?

Sorry, I know it's been asked but I am doing the power-steering conversion in my 68 and I have a 75 steering gear and i would like to know if it requires a new rag joint? It does because it is bigger right?

Re: New rag joint needed?

Just considering the age of the rag and having easy access during the swap I would say so. Especially when you see they are rotted as some are.

Re: New rag joint needed?

There are different sizes of shafts. It will require a different joint if they dont match.

I thought there was definitely going to be a size difference.

Re: New rag joint needed?

For 8 bucks all you are going to get is a repair kit. If the shaft size is diff. you will have to find the correct one & then put a kit in it if ness. A new one is $40-50.

Re: New rag joint needed?

CPP sells the entire rag joint for $49. I believe they carry 3 sizes.
