Exhaust Tip Location - Post Pics

My old truck is in need of a new exhaust. The shop says I will probably have to exit just in front of the back tires. I've got a 3/5 drop. Post some pics of your exhaust tips so I can get a better idea of what they look like in front of or behind the back tire. I've also got the Camaro tank installed so it limits the straight back exhaust.

I ran some jeep springs awhile back 4 inch drop or so, and the mufflers hit the axle...

I've got some glasspacks on there now and they are hitting the trailing arms. That's what is driving the new exhaust.

I ran mine on the outside of the frame rails. Long tube Headers, 30" Cherry Bombs, 2-1/2" pipes running to back roll pan. Ended up cutting the exhaust off nearly flush with the roll pan, I didn't want the tips to stick down since everything looks smooth across the back.

Pretty stoked with the way it sounds too, here is a video clip

With that drop you will have no prob. going over the axel and exiting out the rear. Mine is bagged with bolt in C-notch over the axel exiting at both rear corners out of site no tips.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Ive always gravitated to Flows, but those Cherry Bombs sound really mean!

I just didn't see the sense in running the exhaust through the control arms, around the shocks, over the axle, around the track arm and around the rear gas tank. Plenty of space between the frame and the tires... seemed the best way to run the exhaust and still allow maintenance access to suspension components. And less bends = less flow restriction

But then again I always do things different.

So mine seemed a bit unorthodox when it was suggested by the guy at Meineke Muffler but I went with it. Due to my 6" rear drop and aluminum tank they routed the 2 1/2" pipe under the differential and added Pypes exhaust tips. Is this right? Hell if I know but it works so far and does not hit the differential. I'm still not sure of the look but it mellowed the tone of the super 40s nicely.

3.5/5 drop here. Mine has 2.5" pipes and goes over the axle. My exhaust hits, but that's only because the dodo head that did my exhaust didn't know what he was doing. I need to have it redone and I'll get to it one of these days, but for now, it's not a big issue. It can be done. You just need to get a good exhaust shop with an experinced bender to do the work.

Rob, sounds good. Sounds similar to mine, only I don't have a blower. What cam are you running? I like the exit on yours, too.

Do you have a sound clip of the dumps? Or, was that it?

The beginning was with the dumps closed, the middle the dumps were open, and the I closed them again at the end. I'll do a better video after I get it dyno tuned.....

Sorry, but my truck's apart for paint right now. The tailpipes line up with the notches in the sport bumper. Look at big_al_71's truck in post #7 of this thread for a good example.

The bed's off so here's a look at how it's routed. It's got Long tube headers with 2.5" pipe. The mufflers are the biggest quietest OEM type that would fit under the cab. It's really quiet. All you hear is the intake which is pretty loud at WOT. The sound of it reminds me of a cop car. I like the quiet pipes. It's nice to not have to shout at your passenger on the highway.

I shopped prices, and they were all over the map. I was quoted as high as $475, but I ended up paying $250, with me supplying new collectors. The guy was a wizard with his tubing bender. I'm not sure how many bends are there, but he did it with one piece of tube from the mufflers back. He and his helper had it done in just a little over an hour.
