Angry Here's how you break a starter shaft!

The nose cone was cracked! The starter quit on me at Wallyworld and when I took it off the starter shaft was broken. I had to reuse the nosecone to get the truck home. The starter I put the nose cone wouldn't work the next day and this is what I found when I pulled it back off. It's cracked on the other side too!

The one I put back on is iron, the reason I didn't use it to start with is it is about an inch thinner and my bolts were to long. Now I have new bolts and everything is working good.

Just bought one yesterday as Kragen and the starter had mount holes diagonal and straight accross and the bolts needed to be 1 in shorter. $42. lifetime warranty. Ed ke6bnl

The starter I got the iron nose cone off of looked like it might be the original starter. It was an old Delco starter.

I have a brand new starter brace but I have no idea where it goes on. Anybody know or got a pic?

No picture but can tell where it goes--there is a threaded bolt on the back of your starter. Put one end of brace here and the other end will be pointed up toward the head. There is a threaded hole here-just bolt both ends and you are in business.

If you don't see it on the back, look on the front.
