Re: tire and rm question
if you have a choice - I'd go with a 6"-7" rim for 215s. If you want to save $ and use the 8" rims, it's a stretch (although I'm sure someone has done it successfully)- but might look like hot dogs stretched over a wagon wheel.
Here's a ref that says 5.5" to 7.5" for a 215/75. http://customwheelsmarket.com/rimwheelwidth1.html But then again - I don't follow the recommendations either, I run 235/75/15s on a 5.5" rim - the opposite problem you have - too fat on a skinny. Edit: Just re-read your post - if you are buying all new from WV's, I'd definitely go with 6" or 7" wheels. BUT - keep in mind any disk brake plans you may have for the future (or may already have installed), make sure any new wheels you buy are disk brake friendly. For instance, original 5.5 steelies do not fit over disk brakes. Just ask WV before you order, you'd probably be ok. Note that it is the inside shape of the wheel that causes disk interference, not necessarily just the rim width. Just ask WV before ordering, I'd guess that most of what they make has the disk brake inner profile though. Last edited by jocko; 05-06-2011 at 08:58 PM. |

Re: tire and rm question
those are nice - and they should work just great with your 215s.
