Re: Project 54 short
whats that wiring harness you are using?
I wanted to run mine in the center but got kinda scared that the vent above it might leak so I bailed. Seems nice and clean.

http://www.kwikwire.com/ 2nd Generation 22 Circuit Harness I got it with the switches. Do yourself a huge favor and get a ac Delco headlight switch. Keyswitch had no dowel or roll pin in it to keep it from rotating while you turn to start position. Have power to the electric choke wire heater fan an electric cooling fan when its in acc. position not a fan of that. Its a great kit tho overall the wire they use is high quality. All color coded and lableled the one end is alredy attached to the fuse block itself a a plus in my book less conections less trouble. And its made in the USA! |

Re: Project 54 short
I have an EZ wiring 21 circuit. It was my first wire job and I like their kit. I had to call them a lot for tech support and was kinda hard to get a hold of, but when they did, they were pretty spot on.
I got an aftermarket headlight switch and ignition switch too. When my acc is on the fan will work and I believe the heater and don't know yet but I am sure the choke will too, also my radio will work with acc. I don't mind any of that.

Re: Project 54 short
You have done an excellent job on your truck. Glad to see it's a 54. You also have a great shop to work in. No where near that kind of room here in California, but at least the sun shines warm almost every day. Keep up the good work, and the pictures.

Re: Project 54 short
Gauges are Auto Meter stuffed into the original gutted housing. I milled out .125 aluminum in place of the glass. Its hard to find 6" gauges to put into the two massave holes GM had in the dash. Dakota Digital came out with their new line as soon as I completly gutted the oe gauges.

Re: Project 54 short
Box sides in primer. The start of a cutting and welding aluminum, I cut down the tool box 4" or somthing like that so it sits just below the top of the box.

Looks great. When you get it back together I'd be interested in seeing a picture of the tool box in the bed.

Re: Project 54 short
I can't believe I've missed this build. Looks great. I went with a pretty similar color on mine, it looks great in the sunlight. I can't wait to catch up to where you are, I've only got the fenders and hood painted. Keep it up!

Re: Project 54 short
That's a nice looking ride. I like how you did the boards in the bed to match the paint and the tool box really sets off the strips. Did you spray the same liner on the inner fenders and firewall like you did under the hood? I was thinking of doing the same on my '49.

Re: Project 54 short
Ken here from BuildThreads, Inc.
Congrats and nice work eventytoo - this build thread was chosen as a Best Build Thread pick for this week. What this means is that a bunch of guys who like to build stuff (cars, trucks, 4x4s, bikes, cabins, boats, planes, and garages) and have read a ton of build threads, thought that this build thread makes a valuable contribution to online DIY culture. So, without further ado: Congrats again and cheers! |
