You will get between 16 -19-20 MPG I would guess unless it has the 3.42 rear end in it and then it will be a lot better on the lower mileage I quoted.

also if you live on the flats ,,better ,,if in the mountains ,,worse..

You are lighter than me but heres some comparrison as I have the 5.3 engine as well.

I own a 06 1/2 ton 4/4 extra cab short bed and I get as little as 13 miles to a high of 22 miles ..I got the 22 miles in Texas with a tail wind when leaving Lubbock and then comming out of Denver on I-70 up by Vail I got just a bit over 15 Miles per gallon ..my worst was leaving Elco Nv with a head wind all the way to Winnamucka where I got 13 mpg..and I have the 3.42 rear end which is a gas saver ..

My whole trip of over 5000 miles averaged me around 19 mpg staying within the state law speed..

Hope this gives you some idea ..

Re: need some advice

i got a buddy who has an 02 reg cab long bed 4x4 with the 4.8. He put a cold air kit, throttle body spacer, cat back exhaust, and has the 3.73 posi. He gets 19-20 city with moderately aggressive driving and has seen as high as 28 highway with extremely conservative driving. We dont know what it got stock as he just transferred everything from his old truck to this one when he traded.
