Dash Pad replacement for 85-87?
Still researching reproduction dash pads for my 86 and 87. The information is still confusing. I've heard mixed results.
I've already searched and read all the threads on this forum. Am I correct in the following?: Classic Industries sells Dashes Direct eurethane and vinyl covered Truck and Car Shop sells Dashes Direct (I think) CheyennePickup makes their own vinyl covered? Anyone have experience with? GM Parts Direct sells GM OEM (still repro) The Parts Place Inc sells OEM style on ebay (made by whom?) LMC (who is their source?) How many different fabricators are reproducing these dash pads? Or is everyone being sourced by Dashes Direct? Someone, please clear it up... Please, not interested in Coverlay or vinyl covering over my existing pad. Thanks, Jeff |

Re: Dash Pad replacement for 85-87?
I purchased the $259.95 dash from Classic PARTS...not happy with it and sent it back. The metal inserts where the top instrument cluster screws reach through were very thin and not substantive enough to hold the dash in place. It seems they were molded into the material and pulled loose without much effort. I took my old dash and had it re-covered at about the same cost.
Classic Parts was very helpful in the return. |

I bought one from classic industries for my 77 and it was also like $189...I have heard good things about them and really bad things about them...I think it's fine for a DD but probably not a show truck, you get what you pay for.....

Re: Dash Pad replacement for 85-87?
eurethane covered although i have not yet installed it. it was packaged very nice with a piece of wood to hold the dash in its shape (form) from the looks of it, it should be a very nice attribute to my coming together 87. I picked classic industries beacuse I have chated with a few ppl at some car shows and got to see them on there trucks and I was sold. I have the truck in paint right now but when it comes out I will def. be posting some pics.

Do NOT buy the classic industries pad. It is just awful. I bought one of these and it doesn't fit well. I had to cut ALOT to make it even look remotely nice, and it still doesn't fit very well. Has many humps and some dips as well.
