Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
I seen that the other day. I have been watching it. They put the striker and bear claws near the bottom of the doors I thought that was kind of odd.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
I don't care for it but someone does, it's up to $36K. The whole look just doesn't work for me.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
I would think that there would be a lot of flex in the upper part of the door possibly cause leaks.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
The only Cameo I see is the bed (less the trim and tire carrier). Cool truck though.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
I'm not normally a fan of early trucks that have been turned that modern but I like the looks of that one. Except for the position of the door latches. I wouldn't be as concerned about them leaking as that they would pop open at the wrong time.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
Yeah, I agree. It's up to 42.6K and the reserve has not yet been reached. I know it's not for everybody. But, I'd sure like to own it, or at least see it in person. Looks really well built.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
I prefer stock, but I do like it. A few things I would have done different would be painting the painted surfaces on the interior the same colors as the seats and door panels with a semi gloss or mat finish. That would have finished the modern look on the inside, chrome the upper and lower grill and not have the tailgate completely flat. It needs the body line like an original Cameo tailgate has. On the door latches, I would think there is one at the top as well so there would be a dual latch.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
BUT BUT BUT......
Shouldn't it be called a Suburban Carrier? Nice truck though.

Re: 57 cameo on Ebay
Well kind of. It should be called a Suburban Pickup. I have a good size original GMC literature collection and they are referred to as a Suburban Pickup not a Suburban Carrier. Originally they wanted to call them Town & Country Pickups but Chrysler had a tiffy fit so they had to change the name. I have an early ad with the Town & Country name.
