What is this plug?

Oh the joys of buying a classic.....

So, Im trouble shooting my reverse lights because they aren't working (I'll start a thread for that) and I find this random plug dangling on top of the bell housing.
I pulled it up top for pics and I dont see anything it could have connected to.
What is this? Its a pretty big plug for something just hanging there.

1983 Scottsdale 250 L6 swapped to a 350. In case that helps.

Re: What is this plug?

Oil pressure switch? not the sender, but a switch for another feature?

Re: What is this plug?

Well, the gauge works. It moves when I rev it so I dont think it would be that.

I found the same (similar?) plug near my starter when I swapped transmissions...I couldn't remember where it went...I couldn't remember unhooking it...i thought it had something to do with my truck not starting...but my no-start was a completely unrelated problem. So now it's just dangling by my starter, not connected to anything.
My truck is a '78 250

Re: What is this plug?

It's the oil pressure switch hookup for the 250ci 6 cylinder with an idiot light, not a gauge.

Really?
Thats good to know.
That means the gauge cluster has been changed out or something because I have an oil pressure gauge.
Thanks.
