"squeaky" leaf springs

Got an issue that I've not run across before, the leaf springs on my '05 GMC have started "squeaking" as of late. Tried experimenting with a bit of white lithium grease on the spring mounts/shackles with very little luck. I've owned at least 5 trucks with leafs in the rear and this is the first time I've had this issue. I'm scratching my head.

advice? thoughts? suggestions?

Re: "squeaky" leaf springs

My 98 used to do that on the front and rear suspension components. I used a liberal amount of white lithium on all of the rubber stuff and it would take a few days to work into the parts, then it would last a month or so. I drive down a lot of white rock roads though, so it kinda comes with the territory.

Re: "squeaky" leaf springs

Are they stock bushing? You know the problems associated with urethane bushings, but I have not heard of this with stockers.

they are stock on the front hanger and McGaughey's shackles in the rear - unsure what they put in their shackles ... but the weird part is the squeaking seems to be coming from BOTH ends.

Re: "squeaky" leaf springs

I'll bet the McGaughys are urethane. Sounds like your going to need some Polyurethane lube
