Factory Tach Question
I am putting together a tach (and clock) dash using a Camaro tach. The Camaro tach has white numbers on the face. My question is - does a factory tach have any numbering painted on the face, or is it all on the lens? My thinking is if the factory numbering is all on the lens, and if the sweep of the tach is the same, which I believe it is, I could paint over the white numbers on my Camaro tach face, use a factory tach lens, and end up with the correct green numbering.
Thanks.

Re: Factory Tach Question
I doubt you'll get away with just using the truck numbers on the lens... truck tachs only go to 5000 ROM, where camaros go to 7 if memory serves.

Re: Factory Tach Question
There was a entire thread a while back dedicated to installing the camaro tach in a stock truck instrutment panel. Maybe someone knows where it is.

Re: Factory Tach Question
Thanks, guys. There are several good threads about Camaro tachs, but the color of the numbering was not mentioned. If the factory tach only goes to 5k, then it looks like my idea won't work out. I guess if you go with the low $ option, you can't expect it to look perfect. Not bad, though.
I'm also putting in a quartz clock from a 80(?) truck, but with a 73 face grafted on to get the numbering font closer. I'll post a picture when I'm done. Total cost so far is about $40.

Re: Factory Tach Question
The '73 to '77 clock face makes the quartz clock look 1000 times better in my opinion, it matches the cluster better than the newer face. This is the one I put in my last truck.

Re: Factory Tach Question
Yup - that's the same face that I got. Worth the trouble to swap the faces, I think.
