Re: Rods 57
Is the "the local guy from Idaho " that does the front clip over in Kuna??
I talked to somebody at a swap meet a while back about it and that looked like it works really well. My uncle is getting ready to combine a '58 3/4 ton cab to a '56 1/2 ton frame with a '57 box. He had plans to go rack and pinion , but has found a Camero Z-28 front clip on CL so is now going that route. I still have 77 nova front clip, that I was told, would work also. If anybody local wants it , My wife would be excited to see it leave the premises ![]()

Jay is a good guy, I've gotten parts from him over the years.

Re: Rods 57
I have that same pic of me sitting in my cab when I got the seats in for a trial fit. I think everyone has it.

Re: Rods 57
I decided to use a firewall mounted master cylinder so I used the stock brake pedal mount out of the same 78 camero in the truck. here are the mount holes.
I didn't like it.....so I made some mods to the firewall, cut and drilled the studs so the bolts would reverse and look better and got a different booster that is smaller and fits nicer. I had to move the hole for the booster down and I cut out part of one of the ribs and made the end look different. |

Re: Rods 57
So at some point this cab was laid on its back, hard and it tweaked it. in order to get the doors to close I used a small bottle jack in the door frames. It split the drip rails and i had to fix-um, but I didn't like the way they curved in do I made them straighter than original.

Re: Rods 57
Interested in how you jacked the cab back into place. How was door aligned prior to jacking? And from what point on cab did you push from?

Re: Rods 57
I used the point where the striker plate bolts on for one end and the front post for the other point. I needed to move it about 1/2 inch to get the door to close.

Re: Rods 57
Did some painting on the underside and behind the fenders, used bed-liner first then painted it.
when i put in the cab corners i added some bracing to make it stronger. |

Re: Rods 57
That looks good Rod. I like the idea of the bracing on the corners.
