Your paint looks like it matches great. Keep the pics coming even if they are little skewed from the stein project. Always good information.
Yes, Tiger Stripes!!! I forgot about that issue. I didn't have that problem on this, but I have run into that before. I was using my smaller gun that has a small fan pattern so I had to do many passes. I was also trying to not have to do so many passes (hurrying) so I was not doing a good overlap on the previous pass. Oh man, talk about stripes! It would have been really funny if I wasn't so mad at myself.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I got the bed back today and it looks very nice. Probably the same as I would have done, except I didn't have to fool with it in exchange for a few hundred bucks. Just speeds the project along.

Looking good. So when will the body parts all meet on the frame for the last (permanent) time???

After all is painted, I don't want overspray all over the engine and frame and like it is those are so easy to cover up. I can't tell how long that will be though.

That bed looks great. I'd definetly like to have a friend that can work one over for a few hundred bones.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I almost forgot to cut a hole for my Astro Ventilation. Yikes - that would have been bad to have it painted and have to do it later.

Working on locating and drilling my tailgate trim.

The box looks great! I take it, getting the rear upper body line on the box to match wasn't a big deal for him?

No, it looked fine when I sent it out because of my brilliant welding skills. ---- Just kidding.

He must not have had any problems because he didn't ask for more than the $300 he quoted when he picked it up. (free pick up and delivery!)

That is a great deal and the bed looks beautiful.

You must have done a half way decent job with the fitting and welding.

Too bad I wasn't closer. I'd be sending him work too. He's reasonable priced, does good work, and the most rare of all, it wasn't there for 3 years.

I am very pleased with what I got for the money spent. I will spend more time blocking it out even further, but since I haven't already burned myself out on these parts I will have no problem spending some time and not rushing.

No, that was added to GM Cars and Trucks in the 60's sometime - as an exit for air that comes through the cowl/HVAC system. It would help with defogging the glass primarily. I think these trucks got them in 72? They called it Astro Ventilation back in the day. Think of a vacuum cleaner, if you plug the exhaust side it won't suck very well. This large exhaust vent just allowed more fresh air to flow through the system, through the cab, and to the outside. If you had fumes in the truck, certainly this would help to clear them, but that was just a side benefit.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I think you're right about them being installed on the trucks in 72. Both my 72 cabs have them, but my pre 72's don't.

It is a great idea to add the vents to your truck. It will make the HVAC system work better. I planned on putting them into my truck too.

You should get some of the reproduction Astro Ventilation decals for the side glass like was put on my 68 Camaro. Simple small white script lettering with no background. It would add just a subtle touch not many would notice.

I found 2 more low spots on the roof, I'm not sure if what I have done helped or not. 1 more coat and see if I can get it right.
