1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup firewall template

I have an aluminum sheet firewall cover on my '50, and want to go with a polished stainless piece. Would sure save me a lot of time if somebody out there has/knows where I can comes across one. My existing cover is not well shaped so I can't use this as a pattern

I would like to know where you bought the firewall and hood latch covers. I have been looking but cannot find them.

Actually I don't a big time saving over taking your aluminum panel out and using it as an exact pattern for the stainless panel that lets you lay out the holes and everything right where you need it and put the new one on and done.

Re: 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup firewall template

Actually I have to agree with Mr. 48. Use some cardboard and masking tape to fill in the parts of the shape you don't like and then do the pattern off the old/revised one. Then you get the holes for the MC, heater and other stuff + the mounting holes which will make it sit the way your doctored up pattern did. And, IMO, find another place for those puke tanks other than the pretty firewall.

OK my bad but without knowing what is behind it you don't know what he needs for a pattern.

This one is out in the shed and I can easily trace you a pattern on a couple of sheets of poster board and roll it up and send it if that works. just let me know how you want the pattern drawn out.

The assembly manual has measurements that you could use too.

Re: 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup firewall template

Sorry guys, went ahead with a paper template right after my post, ordered an 8 gauge polished stainless sheet from stainlessupply.com and had it water jet cut to fit my firewall exactly, what do you think?

Well we won't give you the fng answering a 4 year old post that never went anywhere speach this time but it's always prudent to see when the last post on a thread was before answering it.

In answer to "your" question I'd say that both the firewall cover and the cover over the cut down latch panel were fabbed up or cut out by the guy who built that particular truck. The firewall Is a bit suspect in that not a lot of care was put into it but the panel in front of the radiator looks like some put quite a bit of time and thought into it.

Re: 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup firewall template

The polished aluminum cover is where the stock cover was cut down to the top of a Griffin aluminum racing radiator. The originals were a lot taller and hid most of the engine detail. Have to apologize for the late reply, was right in the middle of my rebuild and was hoping for a quick reply before proceeding with a paper template.

I got a better idea. Send me that cab and I'll make a template for him and save you a lot of work.
