s10 swap guys, what wheels??

I am in the process of an s10 swap on my 50. I am wanting to run some 15 inch or larger "steelies" and run beauty rings and baby moons hubcaps. I cant seem to find a stock s10 that has just plain steelies. Any suggestions? I cant think of many rwd offest stock steelies that fit 5 x 4 3/4. Help! Here is a pic of basically what im going for.

Wheel Vintiques is who you need to contact for steel wheels and they have many sizes.

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

My 50 is sitting on an S-10 chassis. I'm running a 1" back space wheel on the rear and 2" back space for the front, all 4 are 15X7. Since my truck will be running 57 Cadillac hubcaps I went with "racing" wheels (wagon wheel style) from Circle Racing, a subsidiary of Wheel Vintiques. The only draw back is the wheel's requiring 5/8 wheel studs with 1" lug nuts. I caught the wheels on clearance sale, 2 are black, 1 gray, and 1 chrome, with hubcaps who cares. LOL.

The tire in the picture is a 235/75/15, fills the fender nicely and I have plenty of clearance on the inside. I'll need to buy another 1" back space wheel for a spare before I start driving the truck any distance from home. The 2" back space wheels will not fit on the rear, they rub the bed side.

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

I'm running 15x8 reverse chrome smoothies made by US Wheel that come with baby moons and you could easily add a trim ring. Very little backspacing which helps compensate for the narrower width of the S10 chassis. No spacers in the front...2" out back, but I'm running a 2wd rear-end, with a 4x4 rear, you could probably avoid running any spacers.

The wheels are available through Summit...If I remember correctly, I bought through Summit's ebay store and saved a couple of bucks per wheel.

I was trying to find a cheaper alternative to ordering new, i was looking for a wheel that can use baby moons, yet be stock and i can get from pull apart or a junk yard.

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

I wasn't able to find any 15" steel rims that were stock for the S10 so I went to the local recycler and found 4 15" steel rims off an early Chevy Caprice. They have 4 1/2" backspace. I believe there are also some Corvette rims that will fit.

The only 16" steel rims I could find were off a Camaro but the rims have multiple holes on the inside of the rim. Kinda like an artillery wheel. The 4 3/4" spacing makes it tough to find alternatives.

As mentioned there are several after market wheel manufacturers that offer brand new steelies for less than $100/ea with different backspacing.

Newer Corvette rims won't work because they have very little backspacing, kinda similar to FWD cars.
4.75 bolt pattern is on hundreds of different cars. Not sure why you think they're tough to find....

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

Sorry that I didn't qualify my response. In my part of the world the local yards have crushed most of the potential donors for wheels that are 15" x4.75" bolt patterns with an appropriate back space. Around here most won't go back more than 10-15 years.

And yes it is not the newer vettes.

Thanks for including the link, it helped me find a suitable donor.

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

bump, my truck is very low, currently has 14'' steelies, 205/75/R14 tires, I want to go with a 15'' steelie & a larger tire, maybe 215 or 235 to fill the wheel wells better but I'm afraid its going to rub, anyone with lowered trucks have problems? what are you running? currently just added 2'' adapters/spacers on front & rear

Re: s10 swap guys, what wheels??

I am in the exact same situation. I have the opportunity to buy some 1955 chevy car rims, right bolt pattern and 15" rims, but no one can tell me if the back spacing works or if they rub the disc brakes up front. But anyhow 49-56 chevy cars seem right, but I don't know much yet.
