Help Needed: BBC vs x-member measurement....
Anyone w/a BBC using a factory 8.5-9" sump (6qt?) truck oil pan?
I need to know where the factory truck oil pan sump sits in relation to the bottom of the front/main suspension x-member. An inch above, an inch below, equal.... I don't need an exact dimension, just a good idea. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this will help but, I'm using a milodon pan with 8 1/2 sump and it sits even with the crossmember. It would prob. sit higher than the crossmember if I had new motor mounts.

Re: Help Needed: BBC vs x-member measurement....
Yes sir, it helps. Thanks for the quick response.
Would you happen to know that pans p/n? I just did a quick search for BBC oil pan depths & the shallowest I could find looks to be a 7.75" 4qt car pan (5qt total system capacity). I actually have a car pan on the 468 in my RetroRod but I can't get under it to get a visual. Milodon has a pan the same depth but w/the side kick-outs (p/n 30970) so it's 6qt total capacity. I'm not sure what problems arise w/the kick-outs though (starter or oil filter clearance??).

Mine is supposed to be 7 qt. plus the filter mumber 30950. It has the side kickouts, I don't have any clearance problems.

That's the thing someone told me would be an issue (I'm not sure why or how). But, w/o having 1st hand knowledge of pans w/kick-outs, I keep that info in my head for consideration.
