New Ram Horns
Anyone have any experience with these?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-72...item5645a6d99c http://compare.ebay.com/like/3005897...Types&var=sbar And do you know why the left is only listed as 69-72 and the right is 67-72? I'm looking for a set to put on my '68. Thanks.

Re: New Ram Horns
The earlier trucks had the alternator mount built into the left manifold. The later did not.

Re: New Ram Horns
Ah, yes. Well, I've switch over to the long WP so I don't need that part. So, these should work. Anybody know about the quality?

Re: New Ram Horns
what size is your exhaust? You could also upgrade to the 2.5" corvette ramhorns... trucks were 2"

Re: New Ram Horns
I don't have any exhaust yet, so I'm open to that. However, the corvette one's I've seen are quit a bit more expensive.
Also just noticed that the corvette ones come straight down and don't have the crook in them. Will they work like this?

Re: New Ram Horns
I'm not sure if these are the same manifolds, but I ordered one about three years ago that looks like it. I never used it but the fit was okay. Be aware that the quality of manufacture leaves a lot to be desired, though. They're made overseas, probably China, and you will have to do some grinding to smooth them out.
Your best bet is to see if you can find some decent original ones from someone on this site or salvage yards. |

Re: New Ram Horns
I see originals in the FS section pretty frequently for ~$75 shipped for the pair. In fact there is a fresh 72 being parted right now with what appears to be a nice original set. Better hurry!

Re: New Ram Horns
I bought a set of these over the weekend. Guy wanted $30 bucks each. Took them home and shot with a can of Krylon Black Grill paint (supposed to be good up to 1,200 degrees. We'll see.) and they look great.
Check with board member Teeitup. I would be surprised if he doesn't have a set or two sitting around.

Re: New Ram Horns
Thanks for the replies, guys. I put up a WTB in the for sale section a few days ago. I'm trying to weigh a 40 year old set (what I've already got) vs. a new set which may or may not be made as well. Decisions, decisions.

Re: New Ram Horns
I just bought a pair from Teeitup. Original 1967-1968 for use with short water pump. Yes, the drivers side does have a provision to mount the alternator.
I haven't check, but have seen them online as available at O'reillys autoparts store under the Dorman brand. Maybe that will help with your decision. Good luck! Keith |

Re: New Ram Horns
I gave a set to Bobbo, I seen that he's putting a big block in his truck, so he won't need them.

Re: New Ram Horns
One thing to be a where of who ever dose your exhaust. To make su8re its not really stiff on eather side of the Per bent exhaust.Reason these manifolds tend to brake at the bend New or old.One other thing Have the guy that is doing the pipe work to give you enough room to get the starter out.If not you will have to pull and cut your whole exhaust out.
One last thing if your putting a H pipe in Make sure you do if after the transmission most shops if they have to remove the exhaust it will cost you and extra 500.00 so 3 rules to live by give your ram horns some extra Bends leading up to them give some room for your starter to be drop out and put the H pipe past the first U joint |

Re: New Ram Horns
True, the corvette style dump straight down, I have a 4WD and was thinking about them.
