need help removing ignition cylinder

I have been trying to get this thing out for like an hour, i am sticking a pin in hte hole on the front, and then turning, but it really doesnt seem to be getting any loser. Can any one help me please

OMG! it took me more than five years to get mine out--- and i had to wait for longhornmail to come get it out of my truck! maybe he will have some good suggestions!

here are some tips - just to make sure you are doing everything correctly:

1. *IF* the truck has an accessory position in the ignition (if the key will turn counter-clockwise from off), then turn the key to the accessory position.

Otherwise, skip this step.

2. Insert a small paperclip or hex-wrench into the small hole in the ignition cylinder. A hex-wrench works the best because it is easier to hold (and keep holding). Press into the hold with the wrench (or paper clip) until you feel the resistance of the internal spring. Keep holding the wrench (or paperclip) against the spring, so that the spring is compressed.

3. Keep turning and keep the wrench pressed. As you are turning further, pull on the key in the ignition. (Pull towards yourself). It should pop out.

Longhornmail had trouble with my ignition (on this step) because my key would just pull out of the ignition (even when the truck runs). (A worn cylinder is the culprit here). I think he used something else to stick into the key hole in order to pull out the ignition cylinder.

Bottomline, there are a few people who can easily remove them (somehow). And they are doing it fairly easy, so there has got to be a good way to do it without forcing it.

thank you, the culprit must have been not having it in the accesory spot, instead had it in the off position. Also, my key also just pulls out, so i may end up using something else, for right now, i just left it alon,e and i have allready showered, so im not getting dirty again. Thanks alot

LOL Jeff!!!
My key comes out of the ignition switch too...but I kinda prefer it like that. It helped when i was delivering pizzas quite a bit. Pull up to the house, grab my key, get out and lock the door while it was running.
Leaving it running and within sight of the customers front door was the key to a huge tip.

It wasn't uncommon to get $5 tips after they would hear it/see it and ask;
"Are you delivering pizas inTHAT??? Here you go, a little extra in there for you."
Everyone thoguht that 10MPG was gonna kill me, but I made more when i drove it than i did with my wife's old Blazer.
