Re: How to mount radio delete plate on cut dash..
a little bit of epoxy in the back with some scrap metal to clamp it in the back side.
or a lil bit of peel and seal from the backside to hold it in place.

RTV....Flexible and wont crack with vibration. Cleans up easy enough if and when you need access. Run a bead top and bottom center on delete plate, tape temporarily in place and reach behind the dash and lightly blend over the dash cutout. Oh ya clean the area first.

I am in the EXACT same situation that you are in. If you are going to do it RIGHT....the only real thing to do, or at least what I am go to do is tack (weld) some sheet metal braces in the back for the factory clips to clip to. You are basically putting back the metal that was removed when the 8 track deck was installed. lol

Small rare earth magnets on each corner, works like a charm.

Re: How to mount radio delete plate on cut dash..
I would use the magnets first. With tape the problem is getting it on perfect the first time, with magnets you can move it or remove it as many times as you like... BUT tape would be my second choice.

Re: How to mount radio delete plate on cut dash..
What I came up with
I used2 68 trim clips jammed into the delete plate scooted toward the very ends, then used 2 HUGE/HEAVY (too heavy really) washers with some tiny loc washers and nuts and tightened it down good Im happy for a 6 dollar radio delete and 3 bucks worth of trim clips

Re: How to mount radio delete plate on cut dash..
I don't think you can get new ones unless you can find a new old stock one.... Keep an eye out on the parts board. They come up for sale on there every once in a while. LockDoc

Re: How to mount radio delete plate on cut dash..
Good job dude, way to get inventive and resourceful. Looks great and covers the massive hole. I know about massive stereo holes. I replaced the complete dash in mine because the owner before the previous owner used either a pair of pliers, hammer & chisel or a jackhammer to make the hole bigger for a stereo. It was cut to shreds... I would have needed at least 2 or 3 delete plates to cover that mess. But she's all nice and clean now with the factory style opening again.
