Question Whats the difference

Whats the diff between a small block fan shroud and a big block shroud? Can a SB shroud be used with a BB by changing the fan or the spacing on the fan?

The depth of the shroud, and the location of the hole. (I think)
It would make sence to me that since the big block is longer, the shroud would be shorter, and the big block is taller, so the hole for the fan would have to be higher.
I may well be wron, i have never looked at them side by side...I have actually never seen a big block one removed.
