Re: Power Steering Pump Mount
Hmm, looks like Ive got four choices...
1. Leave it like it is 2. Spend the money on the appropriate power steering pump 3. Spend the money on a long water pump and new alternator bracket 4. Spend the money on a aftermarket pump bracket I think at this point in time, Im sticking with choice 1 since the setup is more of an inconvenience than a problem. When its time to rebuild, I resolve it at that point. Its nice to get some insight on whats actually going on though. Here's some more pics for those more curious.

Re: Power Steering Pump Mount
The one like mine(power steering) the u pull it around me you pay 15 dollars for it. Just make sure youy hose is correct for the pump. I think you can use any pump up to late 70s but I'm not sure what year they switched to the o ring fitting from the flared.

Re: Power Steering Pump Mount
Hey, just a thought. it appears you might actually benefit from a SHORTER belt. The pump will then tilt toward the motor and since the alternator bracket tapers up, that could give you the clearance you're looking for.

Re: Power Steering Pump Mount
My 1969 - 396 has the remote reservoir next to the windshield wiper fluid. Makes it real easy to fill it.
