I was going to get with you and see what your schedule looked like. I didn't figure we would want to be painting in the winter but I don't really know anything about it. I am ready to tear it apart now. I was going to try and get it tore down when I get home this time and maybe get it blasted the next time I am home after that. I figured that would give plenty of time before the COLD weather hit. What do you think?

My dad is building a roll around dolly for the cab to sit on. How high would be good? I was thinking the rockers about a foot off the ground.

Sounds good to me.

Winter is ok as long as i can get it warm enough in there.

Well, here is another CL score. Factory truck buckets out of a 78' 3/4 ton. I had to drive to Wichita, KS for them but since I am on a job in N. Oklahoma it wasn't too far. Best thing is I picked them up for $80. They have the brackets and all. The guy bought the truck new in 78' and ordered it with the buckets. His son then proceeded to wrap it around a tree a few weeks ago. They are in excellent shape. I am going to get new covers for them and paint the console. All I need now is to find a set of the perches that weld to the floor so I can bolt them in. If anyone has any or has a line on some let me know. I believe suburbans that had buckets have them.

Are you still selling that bench seat? I think I saw it on craigslist right?? I have on but its out of a 70's model and its green and im using an ugly seat cover ....My interiors gonna be black and white so that would be cool... let me know if you still have it. Also do you know anything about carb tuning? setting the fuel and air mixture on an edelbrock? mine is acting really strange and I don't know much about it. Thanks man!

Hey man, yes that was mine on CL but it sold a couple of days ago.

As far as the carb I really don't know much about them man. I wish I did. One of my Dad's friends usually helps me out with my engine stuff.

Got a few updates, goT the cab stripped down and ready to go to the media blaster. Getting the rubberized stuff off the firewall is a pain. I have the cab, inner and outer fenders, and hood ready to go. I am going to strip the core support and doors and then take it all up there.

I also pre-ordered the new analog Dakota digital gauge cluster the other day. Anyway, here is the only pic I have.

Got the cab, fenders, hood, and some misc parts back from media blasting. Going to start smoothing the firewall. and patching a few rust spots tomorrow.

Also got the bed all ready to go to the blaster next time I am home. The doors, tail gate, core support, and the rest will go as well.

The bed had lots of bondo on it, lots! But the metal can be worked out good though. Whoever did it last time was just too lazy to do it right.

The place I used was A & A Dry Strip on the north side of OKC. They used a combo of plastic media and I think they said aluminum oxide?

That's who we used for Megan's cab.
They do nice work.
The plastic strips paint with no damage to the metal, and aluminum oxide eats the rust.

Coming right along. Looks like my old man out in the shop... flannel lounge pants, whatever shoes were closest, carhartt and a hat.

As far as those seat perch brackets, they are a simple design and easy to replicate. I have seen a drawing of one floating around here in the forums that shows exactly the shape and size of what is needed.

Got started today. Got several patch panels done on the firewall. Just the fan hole and a couple more on the drivers side to do tomorrow. Also got the fenders and several other pieces shot with a coat of primer.

A little more done today. Finished welding up the holes and got a skim coat on the firewall. Should be sanding the firewall and priming it and the hood tomorrow hopefully.
