steering pump assembly issues
So Ive bought everything I need for installing power steering on my 250 I6 but Ive run into an issue or two..
I bought the pulley from LMC and first off it looks different from the "drawn" picture they have from the catalog, but which way does the pulley go on to the pump either pic 1 or 2 and another problem Ive run into is I bought the PS pump from a local parts store. First off, its leaking a red fluid (re-manufactured) so im guessing I may need to take it back all together but in Pics 3 and 4 the main issue im running into is that the front bracket doesn't fit properly if you can see there is about a 1.5 inch gap from the pump to the bracket. Ive solved this by using spacers like in pic 4 but not sure if that's safe or not. Also if I use the spacers I cant use the pulley as in pic 2 I appears to me that the pump might be setting too far back in the bracket I don't know if they make different pumps or all of them are the same depth wise to solve the gap problem. Have any of you guys who have used a Re-manufactured one had the same problem.. and would just finding a pump and brackets and all the pulleys at a Junk yard be the far easier solution.. than to try to piece together all this from different places.
