Some progress

I managed to hook up a battery to the 63 C10 and found the starter wasn't disengaging so after a trip to Auto Zone I installed a new starter and cables and got the old girl to roll over. Next I cleaned the points and that seemed to get spark in all the right places. I was anxious to see if it would fire after sitting for 15 years but then I looked in the carb and figured I better clean out the leaves and dead bugs first! As I said in another post the engine is a 283 factory 4 barrel motor from a 57 chevy so I hope it will run. Maybe by the weekend.

Hal

Re: Some progress

She Lives! I have had some struggles trying to get the 63 running and today a friend came over to look at the cab to start welding in some pieces and he asked if I got it running. I had to be honest and said no it just fires a couple of times. he then asked how does it turn over? I opened the door to turn the key to show him and the old girl belched back to life! It ran pretty good for sitting over 15 years and I was as pleased as could be! My son and I took off the bed, fenders and some other bits and now onto the cab removal to repair the floor.
