Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
If he purchased the Gear Vendors new and its never been used, people are right, they are not cheap. But Ive seen lots of them for sale that have come out of vehicles people had in their trucks they used for pulling trailers etc. Those things are as tough as they come, but they go for half or less when you pick em up used.
Also I forgot to mention, I was at PICKMUPs place a while back and he had a couple of those bubble windows they used to put in vans. They are in the shape of a Chevy Bowtie ... Wouldnt that look cool? lol

$3500 in 20's looks very impressive in your hand, a old trick my dad taught me. He said "Put 175 20's in your right hand and 35 100's in your left and you'll see what I mean".

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
Man you guys are tough. If it were mine and it is as good as it looks in the pictures, I would have priced it at 6500 and not take a penny less than 5500. It comes with real NOS weather strips (that means they fit and work right) along with real GM grill pieces. Gear Vendors OD are like 2000 with all the piece to install. If you came at me with 3500 as an offer, I would change my price.....UP to 6500. I would come back at a lowball offer with the statement of "They are not making new ones and will not be anytime soon." . What would rust repair cost and body work cost on a cheaper panel?
I have been know to make low offers before myself, but I always tell the owner that I do not want to insult them. I will make the offer and give them my phone number and say call me when your ready.

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
Show him the $3500 and work your way UP until he says yes. It's not lowballing. It's the buyers job to pay the least amount, just do it with respect. My dads been in the car business his whole life and has done quite well with that attitude.

Pretty neat find Leon. It would be a neat one to finish and would be a rare one at Iowa car shows and cruise-ins.

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
I wouldn't say the Panel isn't worth $5,000. But,looking at what Livrat sold for $6,500? Somebody got a good deal. I just figure that's the "asking price" and it's a natural thing to at least make an offer, unless price is said to be "firm". Firm is firm to me,so I either take it or leave it.

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
Wow, that is weird.. I bought my 67 Panel in Cedar Rapids .. it came from New Mexico, had a crate 350 but I added lowered springs ... local couple that owned a rock shop used to go down and bring back Geodes from their mines in the southwest. Unfortunately mine had not only a sunroof but also a roof vent that need filled! I say go for it. You just don't find them. They are hard to see out of (drove me nuts) I only know of one other one in Iowa but is more that 17 miles from ya!
I sold mine when I was moving from Kenucky to Phili for around 3k. She ran and drove like a top but she was UGLY! Wish I woulda kept it.. or better yet bought that one for $6500!! @#$%&!!

No deal... Have you ever dealt with someone that changed the price on something every time you talked to them. I drove the Red/White '70 up this afternoon to see if he was interested in trading. He says "what would I do with a 3/4 ton?" I said "drive it?" I told him it was a C-20 when I asked him if he would be interested in trading. Anyway, when I was there the other day he said $5000 with the 454, gear vendors, and big tires. So today I asked him how much for just the truck, nothing else with it. He says $5500. I gave him my card and told him to call me if he decided he really wanted to sell it. LockDoc

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
If I know Leon he will end up with that panel, it might not be this month or next but in the near future watch out Leon will have that truck in his garage. His garage is where all the nicest trucks in the Midwest want to be!

Re: Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today
Leon...you did the right thing. If he is really serious in selling the panel he will give you a call....And I'm betting he will give you a call down the road.
As far as the panel...it looks solid and to me thats worth a little extra money. But...when a seller starts playing games...its time to walk. JMHO

Good move. Or,you could have told him,"Ok,in that case I'll go with $5000 for everything, straight sale. Just like you told me."
