Need rear bumper opinions-85 C20 and need pics

I hate the step bumper look. But my truck needs to be functional. I think the steps hang down too low. I thought they were low so that the tailgate could swing low but thats not the case, I swung the gate and it looks like the bumper could go up 3/4" and that would look better. For some reason the step looks soooo out of place, to me it makes the rear of my truck look like a pawpaw truck.

I ordered a new step bumper with lights in it, ran all the wires and stuff and then hung the bumper, but to my surprise I didnt read the fine print in the LMC magazine and I need a set ofsecial brackets to mount this bumper. Who wouldvethought that, cause the steps look the same. Well, the frame rails are 34" apart and the mounting locations of the bumper is 36".

So anyways big deal, I could order the brakcets and prolly still mod it to make the bumper fit higher.

OR....

SHould I consider a suburban smooth bumper? How would that look on my heavy duty truck? I plan on installin a reciever hitch under it.

Heres pics of the old bumper and new. Can I get pics of yall's NON-LOWERED truck rear ends? PLEASE!!! thanks for any help.

Heres the old

This new bumper is just held up by the jack, its sagging a little on the outside but that basically where it would sit I think.

again-what would this truck look like with one of those smoothie bumpers?

Where did you get the sport bumper from? And is it a good heavy bumper, or a thin light weight one?

I got the bumper, brackets, bolts, and licence plate holder all from LMC. They have primered, chrome, and premium bumpers and I bought the chrome $129 one. It looks fine to me. It might be thin but it looks right to me.
